Kentrell De Sean Gaulden was born in October 1999 to Sherhonda Gaulden. He was raised by both his mother and maternal grandmother in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. 

As a toddler, NBA YoungBoy was very naughty who cannot behave or stay in one place which caused him to break his neck and wear a temporary head brace in support of his neck in a short period of time. This incident left three permanent scars on his forehead.
