At 13, Roxanne started training in taekwondo while her family still lived in Pennsylvania.
After mastering taekwondo, Roxanne immediately moved on to learn Kenpo Karate during her high school years.
When her family moved to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Roxanne started to join a Judo Club. According to Roxanne, learning Judo was another experience and was a bit different than Karate.
Roxanne trained in Judo in the club for three years until she earned a brown belt.
Before going to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, another brown belt Judo student invited Roxanne to a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club. Roxanne accepted the invitation and trained in the art for three months.
Roxanne Vincenta Modafferi Career
From 2003 to 2004, Roxanne spent her time in Japan. This allowed her to compete in a couple of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and NHB competitions.
In the Smackgirl promotion, Roxanne achieved a 3-0 MMA record when she defeated Jennifer Howe.
During her time in Japan, Roxanne trained in both BJJ and Muay Thai at the Cross Point Club in Kichijouji. According to Roxanne, she wants to write a book about her experiences during that period.
On February 2, 2007, Roxanne won against Cassandra Rivers-Blasso by a split decision at Fatal Femmes Fighting.
On May 27, 2007, Roxanne defeated Marloes Coenen, Megumi Yabushita, and Hee-Jin Lee to become K-Grace Women’s Open-Weight Tournament Champion.
In 2013, Roxanne became a member of the Syndicate MMA team.
For many years, Roxanne kept on competing in women’s MMA tournaments. On November 4, 2021, she announced via Instagram that it would be her final MMA fight.
Unfortunately, Roxanne lost via a split decision against Casey O’Neill. Roxanne retired after this fight.
