What do you mean by wireless charging?

Wireless charging is simply as the name suggests, charging your device without any chord. It uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to charge your phone.

Have you ever felt the heat when you place your hand a bit above the flame? In that process, you are not touching the flame but still feeling its heat. That process is known as induction.

In the same way, when an electrical and magnetic field interacts, the effect of the same can be felt without the need for any touch. That is the principle we use in our wireless charging of the iPhone.

In this simple process, the charging port or pad and your phone have a coil made up of high-quality aluminum or silver. Both these metals are the best conductors of electricity. A magnetic field is generated when you put your phone on charge and these two coils are aligned.

This makes the electrical current flow which is directly used to power the battery of your phone. This is the basic principle that works behind the working of a wireless charger.

    Wireless Charging in iPhone

If you have an iPhone 11 or a higher version, you will notice that the Apple logo on the back of your phone and the Apple logo on the charging will align with each other. It is simply the coils in both the devices aligned together to make that electrical current flow.

If you have an earlier version like iPhone7 or 5, then you will manually have to align these two coils together on your wireless charging pad and your phone. The coils are available in the logo and that is what you need to align with the help of a wireless charger cover.

The way you use a cable charger and the indicator light lights up to notify you about the commencement of the charging, the same is the way with the wireless charger.

You can use the wireless charger easily with almost every case for iPhone since they are usually wireless charging friendly. However, it can be a little difficult with every thick and bulky case made of insulators.

What do you mean by Qi?

Qi (pronounced as chee) is a famous Chinese term that simply refers to the energy of life. It is the energy that is available in all living beings which makes them alive.

In the content of wireless charging, WPC maintains the wireless standard. It means the transmission of energy and power between two devices, without any physical link.

The wireless charging pad of Apple has an induction coil. This induction coil is powered by the electrical input. It is always in the state of stand by and as soon as it receives an induction coil, it aligns itself to it.

So, the wireless charging pad induction coil used or consumes more electricity since it is always in the state of standby.

Pros and Cons of Wireless Charging for iPhones

There are both pros and cons of wireless charging. It can be fast charging, you don’t have to put in the cable every time and don’t have to look for an iPhone charging cable every time your phone is beeping on low battery.

However, the cons include the perfect alignment of coils in wireless charging. If the coils are not aligned, then even after hours of charging, you will be still looking at a dead phone. So proper alignment of the coils is important to make it work.

Can I charge my iPhone 7 model via wireless charging?

The wireless charging pad of apple only works with models greater than iPhone 8 and, XR, 11, 12, and 13. All their variants are wireless charging compliant.

However, if you want to charge your iPhone 7 with a wireless charging pad, it is not possible. But to make it work, you can buy wireless charging covers. With these covers, you will have the coil in the cover which will be aligned to the charging pad coil.

But the drawback of these covers is their bulkiness. Since the coil is not inbuilt in your phone and is placed in the cover, it becomes very bulky and heavy. The cover adds a lot of girth and weight to your phone.

Also, you won’t be able to attach the Lighting connector while in the charging section and thus you won’t be able to join any other thing at the same time.

Although it will add weight a little bulk, you will be able to enjoy the convenience and ease of using a wireless charging pad. It surely makes your life a lot easier and much faster. Once you start using wireless charging, you simply forget the hassle of using a cable charger.

Final Words and Tips you can use!!!

You should know that you can charge your iPhone only via one mode, you cannot simultaneously use the USB charger and the wireless charging at the same time.

IF the USB charger is plugged in, you cannot use the wireless charging pad at that time. So it’s better not to try that out. Stick to anyone and you are good to go.

There is the latest heat produced when the electromagnetic induction process takes place. So after charging your phone through the wireless charging pad, your iPhone might feel a little bit warmer than usual.

If you don’t align the coils properly or if your battery is not storing the energy properly, then it is a high possibility that the phone will not charge. Also, it will deteriorate the life of your battery.

We don’t recommend putting that charging pad too near to your bedside because it can be broken if you thrash about in your sleep.
