    Plumbing Pipe Relining

It used to be that when your out-of-date, rusty, rotted plumbing pipes eventually gave out, it created a home disaster that involved tearing open the walls and digging up the garden, a process that left your home looking as if a typhoon had hit it. There was no solution for it back then other than to rip the old pipes out and start over!

Fortunately for us, time and technology have provided some much more attractive methods to deal with the problem of old pipes. Instead of ripping them out, they can simply be relined, saving you a whole lot of time, mess, and money! You can visit Thunder Plumbing to arrange a consultation regarding what would be required to perform the service in your home, their expert technicians can make the whole process easy as pie! But, if you want to know a little bit more about what to expect before consulting with them, here is a look at what exactly pipe relining is, and how it works!

Nothing lasts forever, and it’s a pretty common problem to have your existing pipes break and crack after years of service. Homeowners dread this naturally enough, because of the expense, and the damage to your home and grounds it incurs. So, the exciting new alternative to costly and troublesome repair and replacements is to implement the pipe relining process.

Basically what happens is a new, stronger pipe is created inside the old damaged pipe, which not only repairs any existing leaks, it helps prevent future leaks from happening!

The process begins with the professional plumbing technician making an assessment of the pipe network using a special video drain camera that can be inserted into the pipes to non-invasively examine their condition from the inside. Using this amazing technology allows them to see breaks and blockages up close, so the problems can be identified.

The next step is to perform a thorough cleansing of the pipes by flushing them out with a powerful hydro-jet that can remove rust scale, tree roots, trapped debris, and any other obstructions that have accumulated over the years. The pipe is thus cleaned so that the new lining can be properly inserted. The plumber then puts together a custom-designed liner and bladder based on the old pipe’s dimensions that also include all junctions and bends so that the lining will be a perfect fit.

Once the new parts have been prepared a very strong epoxy resin is injected to soak the pipe’s inner surfaces, while an uninflated bladder and the liner are inserted. The drain camera is then employed again to ensure exact positioning. The bladder is inflated which sticks the new lining to the resin. Once the resin dries, you have a brand-new watertight pipe!

Always make sure any plumbing work you have done is within the guidelines of the. We hope you find this information useful for when you eventually need to have your pipes relined!
