    There are many in the United Kingdom who believe that anyone who takes up some kind of martial arts is doing it purely for defence and attack purposes. They believe that these particular individuals often find themselves in situations that are out of their control and so they would like to learn some skills so that they can not only stick up for themselves but for friends and family as well. This is true up to a point but there is so much more to be gained by taking up any kind of martial arts sport. We are pretty much spoilt for choice here in the United Kingdom with regard to which one we would like to choose and so this has put us in a difficult situation when it comes to choosing the right one.

    Many people choose to do Muay Thai in Reading because they had a nice experience when travelling to the country of Thailand where they got a little bit of a taste of what this martial art and sport was all about and so when they returned to their country of origin which was the UK, a spark had been lit and so they wanted to learn a lot more. There are many benefits to taking up this kind of martial art and sport and they come in physical, mental and social form. For the purposes of this article, we will cover the many physical benefits.

    1. It’s great for your heart health – There is no doubt that the training involved in Muay Thai is regarded as high intensity and so this is incredibly good for your cardiovascular health. There are actually medical practitioners who will encourage you to take up some kind of martial arts training as a simple health change because they know that it is excellent for life-threatening diseases. You can do this fantastic sport without actually having to get into the ring in a real capacity and so you get to enjoy all of the benefits but without any of the hits.
    2. Your flexibility improves – As we get older, we tend to be not as flexible as we used to be and so squatting or climbing stairs or steps becomes more difficult than it used to be. When you engage in martial arts, you gain flexibility which will require you to do lots of stretching and this means you get to avoid any injuries. You also will have the flexibility to be able to get yourself out of court situations with complete strangers.
    3. Better balance – Many people are unable to stand on one foot in the United Kingdom without falling over and so engaging in martial arts provides you with the balance that you need to get you through every single day. It helps with your overall balance, coordination and of course your stability.

    These are three of the physical benefits of taking up a martial art such as Muay Thai and there are numerous more. If you would like to enjoy better health, better flexibility and better balance then this is certainly the activity for you.
