About Made in Abyss
‘Made in Abyss’ is a famous Manga series in the Japanese language, also available in English and other languages. While Akihito Tsukushi is the writer and illustrator of the series, the English publisher is Seven Seas Entertainment. After Manga’s release in 2012, Kinema Citrus came up with its cinematic version in 2017. With 13 episodes, it had an intruding storyline to bind the viewers. Following a positive reaction, the makers of the series confirmed a second season.
Made in Abyss Season 2’s Release Date (Expected)
As mentioned earlier, season one was released in 2017, and the makers confirmed a sequel. However, the pandemic delayed the production, filming, and release of the series, impacting its original release date for 2020. Not only this, but the pandemic also took a toll on the entertainment industry as a whole. So, most probably, viewers can expect the next release date to be around the end of 2021. As per sources, the trailer and release date will be out in December 2021.
Official Announcement of Made in Abyss Season 2
After a long wait, fans got a hint of a second season in the ending credits of the sequel movie ‘Dawn of the Deep Soul.’ A message of “to be continued” was featured at the film’s end. The official verification came the next day, January 18, 2020, on Anime’s website, along with a trailer declaration. After the announcement, there were speculations regarding the sequel to be a film. But the long length of the next storyline denies this fact. However, the confusion is still not apparent, and the second season shall probably arrive soon.
Production
Although the announcement for a sequel is already out, the pandemic delayed the series’ production. And the next season can take longer than expected time to be out. A lack of storyline because of short chapters could be a significant cause of this delay. After the release of volume 9 this year, the makers are waiting for one more volume to complete the plot.
In the first season, there were 26 chapters of the Manga that makes up half of volume 4. The movie ‘Dawn of the Deep Soul’ covered the Bondrewd story arc that ends in chapter 38. And the 9th volume has 55 chapters. This leaves only 17 chapters for the sequel series until the next volume arrives. Thus, the production will likely be complete after volume 10, expected to be released in 2021.

Made in Abyss Plot
The Made in Abyss Anime features remarkable adventure, dark fantasy, and science fiction. The series’s main story revolves around Riko, an orphan who lives in an Orth city located in the Abyss. It is not a safe place, and when a person enters the place, it isn’t easy to return. Only fortunate ones survive in the Abyss. Riko wants to be like her mother, who is a white whistler. She befriends a robot and takes him to an orphanage. Later, on getting some indications from her mother, she departs from the place with the robot. However, she is left in the middle of nowhere to find her mother.
The second season shall continue the story of the sequel movie. Probably, it will revolve around the Capital of the Unreturned in the sixth layer. The main characters are Riko, Reg, and Nanachi, who arrive at the sixth layer. After their last drive, they got stuck in Narehate Village of Ilblu, inhabited by the Hollows. The characters come across secrets, paradoxes, terrors, amazements, and some deep and unusual truths at Abyss’ depth.
When Riko woke in the sixth layer, she was all alone with no trace of her companions. And while searching for them, the protagonist fell in the village of hollows. Here, she needs to make some hard mandatory decisions. Later she learns about the lineage story of the village of hollows. The story’s next part is likely to be interesting, exploring whether Riko will find a way out or quit.
Many questions are left unanswered in the previous season wherein Riko began the journey of finding her mother. In the pursuit, she also lost her friend in the sixth layer and was all alone hunting for them. Made in Abyss Season Two is expected to answer questions around the same. Will she return to her city or continue the search? Can Riko find her mother? Who took her mother, and where is she?
