You love traveling in your RV and exploring new places. Maybe you love your RV vacations so much that you’re considering moving into it full-time.

Is this possible? Can you live in an RV full-time? While there are some logistics to work through, living in an RV full-time is definitely an option. Read this guide to learn how to live in an RV full-time.

    Buying an RV

First, you need to find the RV that will be your new home. If you’re not positive that you want to live permanently in your RV, you may want to rent one first to test out life on the road. This way, if you change your mind about RV living, you won’t be strapped in a bunch of debt.

If you’ve decided that it’s time to buy an RV, here’s what you need to consider:

    The Size

Consider how much space you’ll need to accommodate you and your fellow RV dwellers. Remember, vacationing in an RV is a lot different than living in an RV, so you may need more space to live comfortably than you realize.

On the other hand, remember that large RVs are more cumbersome to drive, and it can be more difficult to find camping sites. Ideally, you want to strike a balance between comfort and practicality.

    Layout and Tank Size

You’ll need an RV that fits your daily life. For example, if you plan to work while on the road, you may need an office space. You also need to consider the RV’s tank size. If you prefer public campgrounds and boondocking, you may want to purchase an RV with a larger tank.

    Other Features

Think about other features you want in your RV to make your life easier. For example, are you comfortable using public laundromats? Or would you prefer to have a washer and dryer? Click here to find RVs with amazing features!

    Income

Once you’ve chosen your RV, you need to think about how you’ll make money on the road. If you’re moving into an RV during your retirement years, then you just need to ensure that your monthly retirement income can support your new lifestyle.

If you aren’t retired yet, you’ll need to find another way to support yourself. Many full-time RVers work remote jobs to earn income. However, keep in mind that the internet can be spotty in some wilderness areas, which can make holding down a full-time job difficult. You may find it easiest to work a series of contract jobs that don’t require you to be online at a certain time.

    Pets and Mail

Many campgrounds are pet-friendly, so bringing your furry friend with you shouldn’t be a huge issue. Plus, what dog doesn’t love exploring new places?

However, you still need to consider the logistics of traveling with a pet. How will you keep up with regular vet visits? If you have a cat, where will you place the litter box?

Additionally, you’ll want to find somewhere to have your mail sent. You’ll need a physical address for receiving mail, voting, paying taxes, and more. Some full-time RVers use family member addresses, while others set up P.O. boxes.
