What To Expect From The New Batman Movie?
The announcement of a new Batman movie has kept the DC fans on the edge of their seats. The COVID outbreak and numerous production delays have only increased our anticipation. Since the pandemic caused multiple production pauses, the release date shifted several times from June to October 2021, and is finally set on 4th March 2022.
The new Batman reboot is directed by Matt Reeves – the man behind the last two Planet of the Apes movies, and according to movie critics, there’s a lot to be excited for.
Reeves decided to drop the “Batman origin” narrative and frame the picture of Gotham’s most loyal protector a bit differently. According to the teasers we picked up from social media over the last two years, we can expect a much darker and more psychological story compared to the previous movies. Reeves wanted to create a Batman who’s not a superhero in a traditional sense – he’s much more human, battling against more relatable demons we’re all facing nowadays – corruption, declining trust in government, and other social issues. He even drives a more practical car. Instead of a futuristic beast on four wheels, the new Batmobile is a good-old American muscle car with a few adjustments for Batman’s vocation.
If you can’t imagine Bruce Wayne in a Dodge, can you imagine him listening to Nirvana? Well, the soundtrack from the first trailer is a cover of Nirvana’s song Something In The Way, and Matt Reeves even admitted that Kurt Cobain was his biggest inspiration for developing Batman’s character. Alongside Cobain’s music and personality, Reeves was influenced by cinematic classics like Chinatown and The French Connection. Therefore, this Batman could be a real treat for noir fans.

● Robert Pattinson as Batman
After showing his true talent in movies like The Lighthouse and Tenet, Robert Pattinson admitted he had his eyes on the role of the new Caped Crusader for some time. Luckily, the crew behind the movie felt he could impersonate Batman’s true character, and gave him the opportunity to join some of the greatest Batmans in history, like Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck.
● Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman
In an interview, the star said she was fascinated by Catwoman’s strong femininity and the contrast between her energy and Batman’s masculine power. Also, she said she tried to forget the other versions of the Catwoman and focus on Reeves’s writing to tell his version of the story.
● Paul Dano as The Riddler
After Jonah Hill walked away from the role, Paul Dano took the responsibility of bringing the Riddler to life, and fans are genuinely excited because we haven’t seen the Riddler on the big screen since Jim Carrey’s interpretation in 1995. Dano said he wanted to play in a superhero movie for a long time, but he was waiting for the right one, and Reeves’s interpretation of Batman was everything he hoped for.
● Colin Farrell as The Penguin
Even though he said his screen time in the movie is quite limited, we’re all waiting to see Colin Farell’s transformation into the Penguin. According to the rumors from the set, his prosthetics and makeup completely changed his appearance which made him so unrecognizable that the crew thought he wasn’t on the set on one occasion.
