Cheryl Darlene Rogers was adopted by the American actor and singer Rog Rogers and his wife Grace Arline Wilkins. Cheryl Darlene Rogers was born on 6th June 1940 in Dallas, United States. Cheryl was the eldest child of Roy Rogers, however Cheryl’s mother died after two years while giving birth to a boy due to complications.
Cheryl’s father Roy Rogers was born as Leonard Franklin Slye in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Mattie and Andrew “Andy” Slye on 5th November, 1911. Roy’s father Andy worked at Shoe factory in Portsmouth and the family lived near Lucasville Ohio on a farm. Without a radio on the farm, the family developed their own source of entertainment. Roy would sing, play the mandolin, and call the square dances on Saturday nights when they also welcomed the neighbours around. During this period, he also learned how to yodel. He and his mother would use various yodels to correspond with one another over distances on the farm.

Cheryl Darlene Rogers appeared in a number of tv shows and movies that his father was a part of such as, Trail of Robin Hood, Outlaws of Paradise Valley and in a number of episodes of the Roy Rogers TV Show. She became an author by writing number of books, including “Cowboy Princess”, “Cowboy Princess Rides Again,” and was also a co-author of “The All-American Cowboy Grill” cookbook. However, before Cheryl’s father Roy made it big, Roy’s family lacked financial stability when he was very young, hence to help his father he had to quit his studies and he never returned to it.
Len and his father got work operating sand trucks for a roadway construction project, and the Slye family leased a modest home close to Rogers’s sister Mary. Roy gave the audition for Midnight Frolic radio after his sister insisted him to do so. In the audition, he was seen singing and playing guitar. After some time, he joined a local country music group, the Rocky Mountaineers. With revenue from his movies and public appearances flowing to Republic Pictures, Rogers negotiated a 1940 deal with the company that gave him the right to use his name, voice, and likeness for merchandise.
