5 tips for Perfect Pork Dishes

Looking to improve your cooking skills? It is too easy to cook tough pork. Follow these tips for better meals and a happier family.

Cooking doesn’t come naturally to all of us. It just so happens that whether you are a good cook or not, you will still spend a hateful amount of time in your kitchen. It is the heart and hearth of the home. In the old days this was a literal saying. Nowadays, the kitchen remains the heart of the home even if we don’t cook over an open fire anymore. Your family frequent this room several times a day. What will you feed them with? If you follow our tips, pork might make its way back onto that menu.

The 5 Tips You Need for Cooking Excellent Pork Dishes

Don’t toss out the pork just yet. It might be tough if incorrectly cooked but get pork dishes right and they are sumptuous enough for the good crockery. Here are the tips you need for pork cooking success.

    1 – Season Correctly

The best brine for pork starts with the best seasoning. Season your meat correctly and you should have the perfect meal, even without a sauce. A porkchop is a bland affair while a gammon steak is excessively salty. Be sure you match the type of salt and the style of pepper to the needs of the dish. Even a typically salty cut of meat requires a little salt to draw out the moisture before it cooks.

    2 – A Light Coating of Oil

Expert foodies say you should give your pork a light coating of oil while it is cooking. This traps in most of the juices and stops the meat becoming dry. Vegetable oil is the specified oil, although we suggest matching the oil to the dish. For Eastern dishes use sesame oil. For Italian dishes use olive oil, for Cuban food consider a chilli oil, and so on.

    3 – Temperature Control it

Pork does tend to dry out if you are not careful during the cooking process. You can retain those juices if you use the correct temperature. Grab your contactless thermometer – these are best since they don’t spread germs – and take the temperature of the pork at regular intervals. It should hit no more than 145oF.

    4 – Use a Slow cooker

If you want tender, fall-apart pork which melts off the bone, then you want to cook it in the slow cooker. These pots of goodness don’t allow the juices to escape. You can fill it in the morning, switch it on, go to work, and come home to a fabulous roasted pork dinner. Toss in some thyme, rosemary, and/or sage for best results.

5 – Or an Air Fryer

If you prefer pork scratchings to off the bone meat, then an air fryer will give you the crispiness you have been searching for. Air fryers are still reasonably new, but recipes are emerging every day. Keep an eye out for the best ones and, meantime, thinly sliced bacon rashers crisp up wonderfully in there with less than a teaspoon of oil.
