After the release of the film adaptation the movie producers came up with the idea of launching a mini-series. In 2013 November, Bob Weinstein made a confirmation about the development of a mini-series of ten episodes. The production started under Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s Dimensions Television (the division of their production company Dimensions Films).
Then in September 2015, came an announcement from Dimension Television that they would assign Christian Torpe, the noted screenwriter, for the task of developing The Mist as a television series. And then Paramount Network, earlier known as Spike, proceeded with the pilot series in 2016 February. Then in April, Spike and Weinstein production Dimension Television made a deal with each other to execute the screening of the whole series.
