    Born in the same city (New Orleans) as Tyler Perry, Lil Wayne is younger than Perry. Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. Dwayne was born on 27th September 1982 but grew up in Hollygrove in New Orleans.

    His mother was nineteen years during his birth, but his dad divorced his mom upon him reaching two years. This means his mother raised him.

    But it wasn’t easy for him to pursue music as his mom wanted him to leave rap and concentrate on school. This led to him shooting himself on the chest, an action that could have ended his life.

    This happened in 1994 when he was twelve. Off duty police officer Robert Hoobler was the one who saved his life by rushing him to hospital in a police car.

    At fourteen, Lil Wayne became a professional rapper. In 1997, they formed a group, “Hot Boys” and Juvenile, B.G., and Turk.

    Their first album was Get it How U Live! in 1997. Under Cash Money Records, the group released their second album Guerilla Warfare. It went on to top the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

    The group split, and Carter went solo.

    500 Degreez was his third album that was released in 2002. In 2004 Lil Wayne released his fourth studio album entitled The Carter. A year later, he dropped The Carter II. This album wasn’t produced under his record label Cash Money Records.

    In 2006 he collaborated with Birdman and released an album known as Like Father, Like Son.

    Lil Wayne then released The Carter III in 2008. The album sold over a million copies in the first week. Up to date, the album has sales of more than three million copies.
