    If you know the group Xscape, then you probably know who Kandi Burruss is. Kandi Burruss became famous as she is one of the members of the said group. Due to this good start, Kandi now became a well-known songwriter and a great record producer.

    Early Life

    Born and raised in College Park, Georgia on May 17th of 1976. Unfortunately, Kandi’s parents, Joyce and Reverend Titus Burruss are divorced. Her father claimed that due to his bad habit of smoking and drinking, her mom, Joyce, threw his father out of the house. Kandi said that her mother claimed that her father was having an affair that’s why they got divorced.

    Even at a young age, Kandi shows interest in performing. Her high school was spent at the Tri-Cities Performing Arts High School. The school can be located in the Atlanta suburb of East Point, Georgia. While at the young age of 15, Kandi already got her first appearance on television when she appeared on BET’s “Teen Summit”. 

    The Xscape group was formed when she was still in highschool. Kandi and her friends, Tamika and LaTocha Scott, and Tameka “Tiny Cottle”. Lucky for the group, Jermaine Dupri, who is a great record producer, signed the group to his So So Def Recordings label.

    1994 when Kandi graduated from high school.

    Career

    In the fall of 1993, Xscape released their debut album “Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha”. Kandi was a senior in high school, then. The album became a hit as it peaked at number 3 on the R&B charts and amazingly created two top 10 singles. Two years later, Xscape released their second album “Off the Hook”.

    1998 when Xscape released their third and last album “Traces of My Lipstick”. Sadly, the group got disbanded as LaTocha Scott decided to leave the group to pursue his career as a solo artist. However, not long after when the group managed to get together and made appearances on a couple of soundtracks, just like “Hardball” and “Big Momma’s House”. The group must have been fated to disband as they went on hiatus again in 2005.

    Being a successful singer is just one of the talents of Kandi Burruss. Kandi is also a great and wonderful songwriter, in fact, she wrote TLC’s hit song “No Scrubs”, and a couple of Destiny’s Childs’ songs like, “Bug a Boo”, “Bills, Bills, Bills”, and also “The Writings on the Wall”. She even wrote a couple of songs for some famous and well-known artists such as: Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Usher, and a couple more. 

    Year 2000, when Kandi Burruss tested her luck and released “Hey Kandi”, her very first solo album. The album consists of singles like “Don’t Think I’m Not”, and “Cheatin on me”. After a couple of years, Kandi then released her second album, “Kandi Koated” in 2010. Kandi decided to have her own record label and founded one. Now she is the CEO of Kandi Koated Entertainment. 

    Year 2011 when Kandi founded Bedroom Kandi. Her goal is to make high-end sex toys that are designed to be closely look like upscale cosmetic products that can be carried easily by women without being ashamed bringing it. Her vision is to make Bedroom Kandi as big as Victoria’s Secret having its own lines of lingerie, lotions, candles, body sprays, — and specially, sex toys.

    Business Ventures and Other Appearances

    Aside from her success in the music industry, Kandi also starred in a TV reality show “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”. She also appeared in an episode of the famed “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”, where she helped a contestant win a million dollars. Kandi even appeared in a TV sitcom, “Are We There Yet”, VH1’s “Single Ladies”, and also a Bravo spinoff named, “The Kandi Factory”. 

    One of her known business ventures is the line of sex toys which she called “Bedroom Kandi”, they even have a website for their items for you to browse from.

    Since Kandi starred in the “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”, she earns a salary of $450,000 per season on it. At some point of the multimedia firm, this was one of the highest amounts paid to any version of the show.

    Kandi had a daughter together with ex-boyfriend Russell “Block” Spencer — a hip hop enthusiast. Their daughter was born 2002 and was named Riley.

    Early 2009 that Burruss got engaged to Ashley “A.J.” Jewell after they dated for a couple of months. Unluckily, Jewell got killed in a street fight outside a strip club on October 9, 2009. 

    Burruss revealed that she was then later engaged to Todd Tucker in January of 2013. The two started dating in 2011 when the fourth season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” was being filmed. They were married in April 2014 and got blessed with a son, Ace, in 2016. 3 years later, they were given a daughter, Blaze, who was born via surrogate.

    2002 when Kandi bought her first ever home in Georgia. The house costs $250,000. However, she had sold the house for the same price in 2017. The reason he sold the house was, she already purchased a large mansion located in Atlanta for $512,000 in 2012.

    The house covers a 7,000 square foot area, and it consists of 7 bedrooms. The house was estimated to be worth at least a million dollars today. Reports claimed that she spent $200,000 for renovations and changes in the house upon moving in.
