David Reines Bio
Howard David Reines is a Clinical Surgery Professor who studied at Cornell University. He also joined the University of Vermont School of Medicine, graduating in 1972.
Dr Reines joined UVM for his general surgical residency and did a Critical Care and Trauma fellowship at the University of Miami. Following the qualifications, he joined the Medical College of South Carolina faculty.
Dr Reines directed the Trauma and Critical Care Units at the Medical College of Virginia before being appointed the Surgery Chair at Newton Wellesley Hospital. The Clinical Professor of Surgery and educator at the University of Virginia has been active in policy for the American College of Surgeons as the president and governor.
David Reines has served six years on the Board of the Christian Medical College Foundation in Vellore as the University of Vermont Foundation Board. In contributing to Critical Care, Trauma and surgical education, he has written over 120 peer-reviewed publications.
David Reines’s Personal Life
Dr Reines is married to Nina Totenberg, a journalist and legal affairs correspondent for National Public Radio. Dr Reines and Reines were married in 2000, and the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg officiated the marriage.
Nina Totenberg disclosed that she met her husband during an award. At the time of their first meeting, they were both married. But, six years later, they realized fate had separated them from their initial partners.
The couple were at a concert by the famous violinist Roman Totenberg and started growing close. Learning of each other’s past, they became life partners, leading to their marriage in 2000.
Before Totenberg married Dr Reines, she married Senator Floyd K. Haskell. Totenberg married the late US senator in 1979, but they were separated due to Floyd’s death.
Nina Totenberg Family
Nina Totenberg was born to Roman Totenberg and Melanie Francis as the eldest in a family of four girls. Her father was a famous violinist, and he was a Polish Jewish immigrant, while her mother was a real estate broker.
Totenberg’s mother came from an upper-class family, while her dad had lost many of his family members in a holocaust.
There has been no mention of Totenberg’s children in the public domain, making it more difficult to determine if the correspondent is a biological parent to anyone.
